My name is Rachel and I am the owner and operator of Rachel Amee Photography. I am a mother to a beautiful (and mischievous) toddler who keeps me busy and forces me to be the best version of myself.. She was my inspiration and motivation in starting this business and I'm so grateful for her.
I have always loved the process of taking photos, editing them and displaying them. However if you told me 10, or even 5 years ago that I would be a professional photographer, I would have laughed. I have never considered myself "creative". In fact, I would say I am far too analytical for that. But, I always knew that I loved taking photos. So, in 2019 when I was pregnant with my daughter, I bought my first DSLR. I planned to use it to take newborn photos of her and maybe find a hobby that I could invest sometime in outside of being a mother. But guess what? When my daughter was born, I had a newborn who didn't sleep and that plan went straight out of the window. Fast forward to mid 2020. I had barely touched my camera, but we were in the midst of a pandemic and deep in lockdown and I NEEDED something. Something that felt like just mine, something that would break up the groundhog days of motherhood and sleep deprivation. So I began to practice. And practice. And practice. And before I knew it, I was looking taking photos that weren't all that bad. I discovered a love and a passion for this hobby, it was like nothing I had ever felt before. I knew I needed to pursue it. So I took the plunge and decided to ask family, friends and eventually strangers if they would model for me, until my confidence grew and I felt comfortable turning this into a career. One year later and for the first time in my life, I feel genuinely proud of myself and where I am.
I quickly discovered that I had a passion within my passion. Motherhood. Raw, authentic, messy, loved up motherhood. Swollen bellies and fresh babies and intimate family moments. Give me all of them! And so thats why Im here and what I'm here for. Do you look through the photos on your phone and realise how few you are in? Do you beg your partner to take a photo of you with your kids, only to be disappointed with them? I'm here to capture you. The love in your eyes. The tenderness. The all consuming moments. You deserve every single photo. You deserve to be remembered.
